Letter from the President
Saturday, October 3, we are having a Pig Roast and Jimmy Buffet Nite. The pig will be roasted on sight and later the Vintage Band and the Bums will play. Cost is $5.00 and a dish to pass. Put on your Hawaiian shirt and enjoy the good food and fun.
I’d like to thank the Building Committee – Aerie and Auxiliary members – who have take on the task of seeing to the necessary upgrades for our building while looking to the future. Also, thank you to the members who have supported them.
On September 26 the Eagle Riders from Jackson are having a Poker Run. They are raising money for St Luke of Jackson who fund health care for people who are laid off. We are going to offer them some food and run 50/50’s while they stop at our club. They estimate being in Charlotte about 2:00 pm. If anyone would like to volunteer to help, please let me know.
We had a great turn out for the NASCAR Derby. Thanks to Pat and her group that worked hard to put it together.
I want to remind everyone that this is our club. All the officers are nominated, elected and for the most part volunteer their time. We should all remember this and work together – not against each other – for the good of the club.
District meetings start up Sunday, September 20 and it’s about time Charlotte got the plaque back. I’d like to see more members make an effort to attend these meetings. Get a group together, meet at home or the club and head over for the meeting, a great meal and dollar drinks.
From the Auxiliary Secretary
I’d like to welcome two new members that were initiated into the Auxiliary this past summer. They are Cherie Brester and Lisa Sayre. Please give them a big welcome the next time you see them in the club. Also, a big “welcome back” to returning members, Susan Fulghum and Marci Montgomery.
Just a reminder that all 2008/2009 FOE Auxiliary dues expired (except lifetime members) on May 31, 2009. If you have not renewed for the 2009/2010 year by September 15, the re-enrollment fee goes up to $30.00. Don’t wait, get your dues paid now and save.
I am looking for a volunteer to be an assistant secretary. It would involve a couple hours every two weeks, mainly keeping membership records updated and other light office duties. If you are interested, please let me know.
Thank you for your support.

Secretary, Eagles 3552 Auxiliary
From Auxiliary Bingo
Monday Bingo needs help! We are running low on callers, floor workers and kitchen help for the last two Monday’s of the month.
We are the major money maker for the Auxiliary and we have to rely on men to keep going. None of us want to work every Monday and if we had more help it would not be necessary.
Floor workers and callers are from 5:45 to approximately 9:30.
Kitchen help runs from anytime in the afternoon until about 8:30. This depends on what you fix and how much help you have to clean up. Kitchen closes after our bingo break which is usually around 7:30. Food is served from about 4:30 on. This is an Auxiliary kitchen – not really bingo. If you can help please call 543-5622.

Happenings
Our NASCAR Derby was a great success. We had more participants than we’ve seen in the past and added a youth race. Kids of all ages had a great time and the fans were out in numbers to cheer them on.
Our first Friday night Pool Tournament was in August. This was a great hit and brought in a crowd of players and spectators. They will run the second and fourth Friday – opposite of Karaoke. Entrance fee is $5.00 and prizes are awarded.
Karaoke was cancelled for August because so few people were in town. It will start back up in September. It’s every first and third Friday at 8:00 p.m.
The Just for Fun Sunday Pool Tournaments will start back up in September. This is a four club traveling league. Each week it moves between the Eagles, Moose, VFW and American Legion. Members from all clubs can shoot any week. The schedule will be posted when available and players sign up the day of the tournament.
The Club is sponsoring two Mens and one Mixed pool team. They are traveling teams that will play in Charlotte, Eaton Rapids, Dimondale and Bellevue. The men play on Monday and mixed on Wednesday. Wish them good luck.

Capitol Report
There are many proposals in Lansing to raise fees and taxes. The Governor and some people have talked about: higher taxes on beer and cigarettes. New taxes on pop, movies, concerts, and all services. Higher fees on bars (including clubs).
Now bills to raise fees on charity gaming are being proposed. Games like Texas Hold'em would face higher fees hurting the charity that is hosting the event. I will oppose new and higher fees on the fund raisers for charity.
