From the Aerie President
I have had to deal with some health issues the last couple months and wish to extend my thanks to all of you offered your prayers and all that helped around the club in my absence. God willing I’m back and will fully resume my duties as your President and an active member of the officer team.
2009 was a big year for the Club. There was a major change up in the officer roster in June and it’s great to see that everyone is learning to work together.
There were major renovations to the exterior of the property. New siding, windows and eves along with pavement and a new sign gave a big boost to our curb appeal. If you haven’t seen it yet, stop in.
We also lost some great brothers in the last 12 months. They will be sorely missed for the friendships as well as their contributions to the Eagles. May our thoughts remain with their families.
Our Eagle District meeting for January will be held in Charlotte. This is a good opportunity to see what happens at these meeting. We can’t win the plaque because we’re home club, but it’d sure be nice to get the most points.
Your President, Marty
From the Auxiliary President

Christmas Dinner that was started by Les and Eunice Wells, had a good turn out this year. Thank You to everyone that took part in making this dinner a success. If it was collecting money, donating money, preparing food, serving or delivering a meal or setting the hall up, It is Very Much Appreciated. We had Larry Osborn looking over us this year.
We have a new trustee by the name of Nancy Dexter. Karen Edgerly will be filling in for Marge Bishop while she is in warmer weather for the next two months. Thank You Ladies for stepping up and helping out the Auxiliary.
Everyone please come out and support our club in 2010. We would really like to see more members get involved and have a good time doing it.
May everyone have a good 2010.
Your Madam President, Diana

From the Trustees
Well it’s been a year of changes for the Charlotte Aerie 3552. We have sided the building and resurfaced the parking lot. In December we started a new lunch program that we hope to get profitable shortly.
We are looking to set up a youth group for the members. We are planning to start a new program to get volunteers. We are also looking for new ideas to make money for the Club. More information will be coming at the next meeting.
From Auxiliary Bingo
This may be a new year, but we’ve got the same message. Monday Bingo needs help, particularly on the last two Mondays of the month.
Bingo is the major money maker for the Auxiliary and we are relying on men to for part of the volunteer work needed to keep going. Nobody wants to work every Monday and with more volunteers we could all get a breather.
Floor workers and callers are from 5:45 to approximately 9:30. Kitchen help can start at 3:00 pm for prep. Serving starts at 4:30 and you’re out of there about 8:30. Depends on what you fix and how much help you have to clean up. Kitchen closes after our bingo break which is usually around 7:30. This is an Auxiliary kitchen – not strictly bingo. If you can help please call 543-5622. Thank you, Kay Birgy
Happenings
The Troop Christmas Package day in December was a huge success. 10 tables piled high with stuff to package up and send to the soldiers overseas. We sent over 700 boxes to Iraq and Afghanistan. The generosity of those that volunteered goods and/or their time – especially in these difficult financial times was a real tribute to the goodness of this membership.
The Eagle Family Christmas Party was December 12 and we had a great turnout. Everyone enjoyed a good meal and fun night.
The annual Christmas dinner provided by the Eagle club continued this year. There were many donations of food and the helpers on Christmas morning did a great job of putting everything together as well as having a good time.
Lunches are now available at the club from noon to 2:00. Along with a standard menu we have specials and desserts.
Thursday Burger Nite took a break over the holidays but will be back in January.
Euchre is every other Sunday in the social room at 4:00.
The club sponsors pool teams in the Good Times Pool League. Men’s teams play on Monday and Mixed on Wednesday.
The Eagles are part of a Charlotte traveling Sunday pool league that includes the Moose, American Legion and VFW. Dates are on the calendar. Sign up is at noon, partners are randomly drawn prior to play. Anyone’s welcome to participate.
Upcoming Events
January 16 – Snowflake Ball. We’ll be serving up T Bone steaks, potatoes, salad and a roll for dinner than stick around for the music of Haphazard. This is a great local band that many of the members have heard and like – variety of music. Dinner is 5:00 pm to 7:00 with music at 8.
January 24 – District Meeting, Charlotte at 2:00 pm
February 12–14 – District 11 Winter Outing at Michigan Eagle Family Rec., Center Lake, Michigan.
February 21 – DAYTONA 500 Party in the Social Room.
February 28 – District Meeting, Howell at 2:00pm.
Newsletter Notice
Both the Aerie and Auxiliary officers and I have heard requests from members to receive their Newsletter via the internet, to have it available at the club or to receive it by mail. Some did not know the Newsletter was still being printed. In earlier Newsletters it was stated that future Newsletters would be available on line, at the club or mailed to any person requesting. Some people were not aware of this and others had trouble accessing the website at www.foe3552.blogspot.com
Because of the confusion, we will be sending postcards to all Member households to request that everyone respond stating their wishes. When this information is returned we will process the Newsletter – mail, internet and club – to satisfy everyone we can. You can also contact me by sending an e-mail to FOENews@yahoo.com.
Thank you, Kari Place
