Spring is coming, I hope! It’s been a long winter. There will be a benefit for the Jerry Root Family on March 21st at the Club. We will have an auction and buffet.

Nomination of Officers is coming real quick! Anyone interested needs to sign up on the sheet behind the bar.

We are going to have a St. Patty’s Day Euchre Tournament on March 14th. Entrance fee is $10.00 and we’ll start at 6:00 p.m. See the calendar for all the scheduled events.
See ya at the Club, Rod

Letter from Madam President

Hi to all the Auxiliary Ladies,

I would like to introduce myself. My name is Diana Riddle and I am the new Auxiliary President taking over mid-year for Pat Goodrich. At this time I would like to thank Pat Goodrich for all her hard work and dedication to our club for the last year and a half as our Madam President. She has done many good things. I would also like to thank all the lady officers for their support. They have been very helpful to me by letting me know what I should be doing to stay on track.

I believe in honesty, so if you feel I should be doing something or you have an opinion I would appreciate you coming to me and letting me know. I will do the best to my ability as the Madam President.

Sisters in our Thoughts and Prayers: Sue Crews, Dawn Jones, Shirley Hines, Sheila Heisler, Cathy Huver and Shirley Mills.

Lady Auxiliary meetings are every 2nd and 4th Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. We would really like
to have our auxiliary members come and join us. We have 237 auxiliary members however, not many are active members. Come out and join us. You have a chance to win the 50/50 drawing or one of the attendance drawings.

Monday night Bingo is one of our biggest money makers and we could use your help. If everyone could just work once in a while that would make a big difference. If you can help out with Bingo, please contact Kay Birgy at 543-5622.

The Club has many activities coming up:

March 14th: St. Patty’s Day Euchre Tournament. Starts at 6:oo p.m. Price $10.00 includes food & snack. Remember, we are a club helping others.

March 28th: Pasty Day. Cost $5.00 each, prepaid orders the week before. Pasties are great to freeze. We start selling at 12:00 Noon (dine in or take out) Proceeds will go to the Grant Fisher Bruce Scholarship fund. If you know of a Charlotte High School senior, please tell them about our scholarship and let them know they need to contact the Guidance Office at Charlotte High School for an application. Applications are also available at the Eagles Club.

April 4th: “Can’t Wait for Spring” BBQ Ribs and Chicken Dinner.

April 18th: Charlotte Eagles Aerie and Auxiliary 35th Anniversary Dinner and Dance. A good time is always had by all. Tickets will go on sale April 1st.

Hope to see everyone at our up coming activities.

Diana Riddle, Madam President

From the Auxiliary Secretary

I’d like to welcome new members that have been initiated since the beginning of the year. They are: Michelle Mills from Grand Ledge and Terri Powell from Charlotte. Please give them a big welcome next time you see them in the Club.

Also, I’d like to remind everyone to please keep us secretaries updated with any address changes. Even though the newsletter is published on the website, we still do some mailings and it’s important to keep the address list current.

Thank you for all your support.

Nancy Conkey, Secretary, Charlotte Auxiliary

Capitol Report from Rick Jones

A dentist in Farmington Hills drugged and raped a patient. He was convicted, did one year in jail, and now has been given his license back to practice as a dentist. I have introduced legislation to ensure that NO health professional will get their license back if they are convicted of criminal sexual conduct.

Many of our soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines did not vote in the last election. While serving in Iraq or Afghanistan they received their ballots but could not return them in time for the election. I will be introducing legislation to ensure that they get to vote by allowing our service men and women to fax their ballot back to their clerk.

Around the Club

Our Snowflake Ball was January 24. We had a full house, good food and great entertainment with the Vintage Band and the Bums. The cooks out did themselves providing a great meal the band didn’t disappoint.

There was a Texas Hold’em Tournament at the Club on February 7th. Ticket sales started out slow, but they were nearly gone by start time. Between the games and the 50/50 drawings they raised $2,500 for the Building Fund.

The District 11 meeting was at Charlotte on February 22. We had a full house with the Aerie meeting in the banquet room and Auxiliary in the social room. The Auxiliary put out a great meal and everyone seemed to enjoy the hospitality displayed by our Club. We were given a couple different raffle tickets to sell to support our District and Zone that will be available for purchase from members or behind the bar.

Walk for Warmth Bingo, bake sale and chili cook off was a success. The winners of the cook off were: Paul Root, 1st place; Trevor Woods, 2nd place and Mike Vitale, 3rd place. We had a total of seven contestants. After the cook off the chili’s were for sale and there wasn’t much left by the end of the day. The bakers did a fantastic job and the tables were filled with lots of goodies up for sale. They didn’t last long on the sale table and many treats didn’t even make it out the door. There was a good turn out for bingo and everyone had a good time.
